Vintage Kitchen Restoration
A vintage kitchen restoration with authentic flush inset cabinets, cup pulls, exposed hinges and custom retro appliances by Northstar are all very possible.
It’s what we’ve been doing for clients for over ten years now! Here are a few examples:
Helene and Alan loved their 100 year old Vancouver home, but the kitchen renovation done years before they bought the home wasn’t working and it certainly didn’t fit with the vintage character of the home. They chose custom square inset cabinets with exposed functioning barrel hinges. The drawer boxes are dovetailed maple, but with modern concealed, adjustable, full extension, soft-closing slides.
They also chose new retro vintage style Northstar brand appliances. The stove has a gas cook-top with an electric self-cleaning oven. The refrigerator is a 1950 model with 18 cubic foot of space, with a bottom freezer drawer. See more photos from this project here.
Kensington Place is a 105 year old luxury apartment building overlooking Vancouver’s English Bay. Our 6th floor clients bought a fabulous condo but again, the kitchen had been remodeled in the 1980s perhaps and it just didn’t do justice to this wonderful home. The homeowners opted for a concealed integrated Liebherr refrigerator, an apron front sink and custom flush inset cabinets by Wesley Ellen. See more photos from this project here.
Rasha’s vintage kitchen is a comfortable galley style kitchen with our square inset face framed cabinets. Open glass upper cabinet doors, a furniture style toe-kick and an apron front sink all lend to the vintage kitchen feel. See more photos from this project here.
Adam and Cheryl’s West Vancouver home was another example of a home with good bones but in need of a period appropriate kitchen. Finding a good spot for the vintage antique hutch was an important part of the design. See more photos from this project here.
