Maggie’s Free Standing Kitchen

Maggie’s free standing kitchen is one of our favorites!  The unpretentious simplicity is lovely!

We love collaborative design with homeowners and Maggie made it real easy.  Maggie was real clear about what she wanted in the look and feel of her new bespoke kitchen.  It needed to have the feel of an English cottage kitchen.

Her wish list included simple square inset face framed cabinets with exposed hinges, an apron-front sink set into a free-standing cupboard, an island with top drawers, doors in the middle and open storage with contrasting color painted slat shelves on the ends.  There needed to be minimal upper cupboards, one open display cupboard with a playful contrasting interior color.  Considering her relatively small kitchen with not too many storage cupboards, she also wanted a tall shallow pantry close by, wooden counter-tops where possible, but not on either side of the range, here we used soapstone.

So what do you think; how’d we do?

Maggie’s husband happens to be a carpenter, so it worked well for them to pick up the cabinets at our shop and he installed them himself.

We think Maggie and hubby did a great job!
